Bem-vindo ao nosso 10 Day Detox Challenge. Boa sorte !!!

Detox is a process where we try to eliminate most of the toxins from our bloodstream and liver. The sources of toxins are in the water we drink (bottled water), foods we eat (GMO and non-organic), air we breathe.

Studies have shown that toxic chemicals in our body can lead to depression, chronic fatigue, autoimmunity, allergies, and many chronic conditions.

Step 1:
Take this quiz! Make sure you keep your score for comparison.
Take the following measurements the day before you start and when you finish the program and record them in a Detox Journal (use a notebook, buy a beautiful journal or record on your computer):

 • Your weight. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning without clothes and after going to the bathroom.
 • Your waist size. Using a tape measure, find the widest point around your belly button, not where your belt is. (see picture below)

Step 2: Bad Foods (You Will Not Eat These Foods!!!)
To start your detox, get rid of all the junky food lurking in your cabinets and fridge. Anything containing the following toxic ingredients should be tossed or set aside because you wont be eating anything processed over the next 10 days. Toss everything or keep out of sight:
 • Anything that is not real food (e.g. anything made in a factory that comes in a can, box or package) unless it is a canned whole food such as sardines or artichokes with only a few real ingredients such as water or salt
 • Any food or drink that contains added sugar (including honey, molasses, agave, maple syrup, organic cane juice or artificial sweeteners), especially any sugar-sweetened beverages or fruit juices
 • Anything that contains hydrogenated oils and refined vegetable oils (like corn or soybean oil)
 • Any foods with artificial sweeteners, preservatives, additives, coloring, or dyes – basically anything that has a label or is processed in any way
 • Anything sugar or flour based (cookies, cakes, candies, etc.)
 • Grains (rice, oats, quinoa) and all foods made from flours (crackers, pasta, bread, pretzels, etc.)
 • Starches (sweet potato, potato, squash, parsnip, beets, etc.)
 • Beans and legumes (chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, kidney beans, etc.)
 • Dairy (yogurt, sour cream, cheese, milk, etc.)
 • Coffee and anything caffeinated (tea, soft drinks, lattes, etc.)
 • Alcohol (wine, beer, spirits, etc.)

Step 3: Good Foods:

For 10 wonderful days you are going to flood your body with the nutrients it depends on to feel and look its best!
This are the allowed FOOD LIST.

Step 4: Life Style:
 • Sleep 7-8 hours a night
 • Do deep breathing for five minutes a day
 • Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day
 • Do 15 minutes of journaling daily (use the questions from the book for each day)
 • Walk or do another physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day
 • Take fiber before every meal to cut cravings and help balance blood sugar
 • Take a good multivitamin, 2000 U of vitamin D3 and 2 grams of fish oil a day
 • Take the UltraDetox Bath: 2 cups of Epsom salt, 1/2 cup baking soda and 10 drops of lavender oil

 • If you are taking diabetic or blood pressure medication, you may want to discuss this with you physician. This detox will reduce your blood pressure, if you are taking medication, it may reduce it too much. The same with insulin or blood sugar medication.
 • I have decided to commit to the program for 10 days.
 • I have cut my normal caffeine intake in half.
 • I have taken 1,000–2,000 mg of vitamin C powder or capsules to support my detoxification process as I eliminate caffeine.
 • I have reviewed my schedule and canceled any unnecessary activities during the program.
 • I have informed family; close friends; and, as appropriate, colleagues that I will be doing this program and may be less available than normal.
 • I have informed family; close friends; and, as appropriate, colleagues that I will be doing this program and would like their support.

 • Eu revi a minha agenda e cancelei todas as atividades desnecessárias durante o programa.

Detox! Be Ready/Prepare-se....

Detox means to get rid of toxins. Toxins can be chemicals, bad thoughts, anything that is not good for your well-being. Please, do not resist and just get rid of bad things that make you sick. We'll begin with home products, primarily foods, but it can be anything from anger to just household cleaning products. Here is a list of things you should not have around our 10 Day Detox. If you are not doing the program as a family, please ask your family members to help you succeed by not having these products around you. This is one of the most import aspects of our success. Today I would like you to write in your journal why you are getting rid of these things!

 • Amidos (batata doce, batata, abóbora, cenoura branca, beterraba, etc)
 • Feijões e leguminosas (grão de bico, lentilha, amendoim, feijão, etc)
 • Laticínios (iogurte, creme de leite, queijo, leite, etc)
 • Café e qualquer coisa com cafeína (chá, refrigerantes, café com leite, etc)
 • álcool (vinho, cerveja, destilados, etc)

Voce e forte, aguenta ficar 10 dias melhorando sua saude!!!!

<![CDATA[Functional Medicine. "What Makes Me Sick?"]]>Tue, 05 Aug 2014 04:43:21 GMThttp://dryasuda.com/blog/functional-medicine-what-makes-me-sick
Chiropractic was invented on the premise that if a person is "Dis Eased", they were not well. What causes Dis (Not) Ease? In the early 1900's, Dr. Palmer said that the cause of "dis ease" or unwellness (if that is even a term) are three things: The 3 T's.

Toxins: these include anything from heavy metals, pollution, polluted water, but realistically it is mostly influenced by diet and nutrition.
Trauma: it could mean a macro trauma which includes a direct impact to the body, car accidents, falls, sports injuries and micro trauma. The most common cause are postural based and repetitive motion aggravations.
Thoughts: there is no wellness without the control of emotions and stress. Many people have developed systematic conditions due to psychological issues.

After hearing many of the renowned "experts" in functional medicine (a new trend in medicine), it is comical that what mainstream medicine would "bash", is now become the solution for chronic diseases. Chiropractors for years have treated their patients through nutrition and behavior modification without the use of drugs. What we are seeing now, are the results of multigenerational use of antibiotics, highly processed foods, and high carbohydrate intakes. It is not the way our bodies were used to living, thus the only way the body can protect its self is through inflammation. Obesity are dominating our children as well as adults. Lack of physical activity, repetitive motion, and dependence on advancing technological gadgets, have contributed to increased fat mass and decrease in lean mass.
People can conveniently eat at anytime with minimal effort.

So what is functional medicine telling us now?

Eat less calories. Eat no gluten. Eat no carbohydrates. Eat good fats. Eat good proteins. Take your supplements. Don't follow the food pyramid. Drink lot's of water!

I actually tend to agree. It is what chiropractors have been doing for years. I have had many patients who have improved substantially with that recipe! I have had surprising results with the above recommendation.

In summary,
The basic recipe for success in treatment and in life is simple and you don't have to be a "Board Certified Functional Medicine" expert to achieve results. "Everything in moderation. Everything as close as God created it. Exercise and Laugh." This is the cure for the 3 T's. This is Functional Medicine.

<![CDATA[Belief!]]>Wed, 05 Feb 2014 04:14:36 GMThttp://dryasuda.com/blog/beliefPicture
Throughout the years of practicing chiropractic care, I still chuckle when I hear people saying "You're a chiropractor. I believe in chiropractic!" At first, I must admit, I did not understand why they would say such a thing. Is chiropractic an unknown religion or cult? Why does one have to believe in it? Do people have to believe in allopathic (medical) care? Do you have to believe in something for it to work? Look at the stats for how many failed surgical procedures occur every year. Does that mean those patients did not believe in medical care?

Chiropractic is neither a religion or a cult. It is a systematic form of healthcare that looks back to the spine and its relationship with the nerves. Chiropractic is not defined by an adjustment or a spinal manipulation. In fact, I have colleagues, who do not perform adjustments, ever! Many people think, when you practice chiropractic, all you do is twist someone back and get a crack, but In the mid 1900's, Palmer Chiropractic graduates only used Toggle Recoil technique, which does not produce any audible cavitation (crack) and does not require bending of the spine for the adjustment.

So do you or I have to believe in chiropractic? Do you have to believe that a circle has 360 degrees? Whether you believe it or not, the fact is that a circle has 360 degrees. Just the same, chiropractic, it works, plain simple! The body cannot function optimally, unless the nervous system is working optimally. What chiropractors do is analyze the body for misalignments that affect the nervous system, then correct them. But I do understand why people say they believe in chiropractic. Those are the people who had been to numerous types of healthcare providers and had lost all hope from the care they got until they went to see a chiropractor. I see it everyday, "believe it or not!" Just ask my stage 3 Kidney failure patient!

<![CDATA[Knee Injuries!]]>Thu, 22 Aug 2013 03:37:26 GMThttp://dryasuda.com/blog/knee-injuriesPicture
Lately, I've been a "go to" doctor when it comes to soccer knee injuries. It could be that I play soccer with many different groups and people feel comfortable with me. I understand the movements that soccer players use. I have noticed that these injuries are happening mostly due to an imbalance in the musculature of the individual. I see teens all the way to the weekend warriors as patients who have injured their knees.

We have been successful in diagnosing knee problems and have been successful in treating them conservatively. We do come across surgical cases in which we have done very well with the pre and post operational rehab.

If you are a soccer player and want to prevent injuries, it is smart to go to a sports chiropractor in order to get a consultation in the prevention of injuries. If you have injured your knee, you should go and have it checked before continuing to play. Sometimes, a simple rehab treatment can "fix" the problem and allow you to return to competitive soccer. Ignoring it can have serious effects and force you to hang your cleats up for good.

<![CDATA[Really!]]>Fri, 28 Jun 2013 19:16:30 GMThttp://dryasuda.com/blog/reallyRecently I was watching TV and saw a commercial for a chicken company. It proudly stated that their chicken were fed a strictly vegetarian diet composed of corn, soybeans, and other grains. Grain fed eggs have an Omega 6 ratio to Omega 3 of 20 to 1. Free range chicken (not cage-free) have eggs that have a 1.5 to 1. Both Omega 3 and 6 are essential to the body. However, to put it in simple terms, Omega 6 fatty acids are considered to promote inflammation, on the contrary, Omega 3 promote anti-inflammatory reactions. So just because an advertiser puts a nice tune in the background and some cute kids running around, it does not make the product optimal for health! Eat Healthy!!!!]]><![CDATA[Supplements, Do I Need Them?]]>Fri, 10 May 2013 14:56:01 GMThttp://dryasuda.com/blog/supplements-do-i-need-themPicture
Before consuming any nutritional supplement, it is important to ask your healthcare provider for any contraindications. Preferably a chiropractor who knows nutrition or an acupuncturist. Otherwise, you might be walking out of the consultation with some drugs.

First, let's look at the definition of supplement: Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole. (freedictionary.com)
Do I need it? If you have a balanced and complete diet, then there is nothing needed to complete it.
But for 99.99999% of us who even though try to eat as well as we can, basic supplementation is probably necessary. Sure, there are numerous ways to quantify which supplements are needed but who has the extra few hundred bucks laying around to get all these tests done.

The 3 basic supplements that I take daily are:
3 g of Omega 3 oil (Fish oil)
Multivitamin without Iron
Vitamind D3 4000 IU

Do the brands matter? Yes! Read my nutrition blog.

Now, I will list some supplements that I recommend to my patients based on their symptoms.

Venous Problems (varicose veins, insufficiency): Pycnogenol, Fish Oil, Garlic
Joint Pain: Glucosamine Sulfate, MSM, Chondrotin Sulfate, Tumeric, Fish Oil, Bromelain, Papain, Asthaxanthin, Ginger
Inflammation: Tumeric, Fish Oil, Coconut Oil, Asthaxanthin, Ginger
Neuropathy: B6, B12,
High Triglyceride: Fish Oil
Diabetes: Chromium Picolinate
Night Vision: Asthaxanthin
Infection: Coconut Oil, Ginger, probiotics
Cold: Ginger,Vitamin C, Airborne, Honey
Muscle Spasm: Calcium/Magnesium
Gastrointestinal disconfort: Probiotics, ginger, aloe vera

Remember, these are suggestions, you can contact us with any questions. Good luck and remember, eat lot's of fruits and veggies. Avoid consumption of dairy, wheat, barley, rye, and soy, due to high allergy possibilities.
